Pre-Shipment Inspections (PSI) or final random inspection (FRI) are a critical quality control process in international trade, ensuring that goods meet specified quality and compliance standards before shipment. Here’s an overview of the PSI process, its importance, and the key elements involved.
Inspectors begin by reviewing order details and product specifications to ensure everything aligns with the buyer’s requirements.
A random sample of products is selected based on internationally recognized statistical standards, such as ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 or MIL-STD-105E. This sampling helps in estimating the overall quality of the entire batch.
The selected items undergo thorough checks for quality, functionality, and compliance with specifications. This includes visual inspections for defects, functional tests, and measurements.
After the inspection, a detailed report is generated, documenting findings, photographs, and any identified issues. Based on this report, the shipment can either be approved for dispatch or rejected, with feedback provided for improvements.
